A July march through farms in Clearbrook against the labour contract system brings people out of the fields to join the union. Still from A Time To Rise

"One of the farmworkers (pictured at right) who had left the field to join the march also spoke at the rally afterwards. Speaking in Punjabi, she addressed the other farmworkers and said, "We know the kinds of conditions we have to face; poor wages, the lack of facilities. Unless we fight for ourselves, nobody is going to do anything for us and we will just go on like this. But now we have the union. The union is not here for money or profit; we are the union!" - The Farmworker newspaper, September, 1980
